Summer is one of my favorite times of year.

The humans start talking about vacations. The suitcases come out. The car gets packed. And if I'm lucky, I get to come along for the adventure.

Whether it's a weekend at the lake, a camping trip, an RV getaway, or a cross-country road trip, more families than ever are bringing their dogs along for the ride. That's great news for dogs like me.

But before you hit the road, let's talk about something many pet parents overlook: travel safety.

The Most Important Thing You Pack Might Not Be What You Think

Most people remember the essentials:

• Food and water
• Treats
• Toys
• Waste bags
• A comfortable bed

But what happens once the car starts moving?
