About Us

We’re the Carter family—Jeff, Pat, and our daughter Lacey—and we created a unique dog leash to solve a problem that felt all too familiar: how to run, walk, or move freely with our dogs, not in spite of them.

We design for real movement—so you and your dog can move better, together.

How it started

Our Journey

Our journey began in 2020, born from years of personal frustration trying to combine our love for exercise with our love for dogs.

Whether it was dodging poles and traffic on neighborhood runs, battling leash tangles, or struggling to establish a rhythm between human and canine, we knew there had to be a better way.

When it clicked

A Joyful Discovery

Lacey, a five-sport letterman and competitive triathlete, needed more from a leash than frustration and tug-of-war. Pali, her quirky and lovable Golden Retriever, had other priorities: food and naps.

Their first walk with our prototype harness didn’t go so well (Pali laid down and refused to move), but the second time? Pali took off—with direction, confidence, and joy. Something clicked.

That’s when we knew we were on to something.

Where we are now

A New Movement

Today, unFURled dog outfitters is more than a single product. It’s a growing line of gear designed for real people and real dogs who move together—runners, walkers, and more in the future.

Our mission is simple: create safe, tangle-free dog gear that supports movement, strengthens bonds, and brings joy to every shared outing.

If your story sounds anything like ours, you’ve found the right place. We’re building this for you—and your dog.

Our Design Story

Built From Observation. Designed for Better Movement.

u.Do: was founded by a team with deep experience in healthcare design, ergonomics, safety, and workflow. We are not dog trainers — and we have tremendous respect for the people who are.

Our approach is different. We observe how movement actually happens, identify where things get awkward or unsafe, and solve the problem through thoughtful design.

For us, that problem started with running and walking with dogs — the tripping, tangling, pulling, and constant adjustments that can get in the way of moving confidently together.

  • Jeff Carter, Founder and Chief Pack Innovator

I’ve loved dogs my entire life—and if I’m being honest, I’ve probably overfed every one of them just trying to make them happy.
I’ve also never been great at following rules, which might make me the perfect “Chief Pack Innovator.”
Now I’m on a mission to find better, more thoughtful ways to love our dogs—through movement, connection, and a little creativity.
Join us as we explore new ways to exercise, bond, and make the world a better place… one happy dog at a time.
  • Pat Carter, Founder and Chief Pack Herder

I’ll admit it—running with a dog was not my thing. Between tripping over the leash and getting yanked off the trail, it felt more like survival than exercise.
Honestly, it’s probably why I became “the cat person” in the family. (If cats went for runs, I’d be all in.)
So when Jeff said he had an idea to fix my “dog dragging” problem, I was skeptical… but curious. Turns out—he was onto something.
He built products that actually give you control, even when your dog thinks it’s in charge. And for the first time, running or walking together felt less like chaos and more like fun.
  • Lacey Carter, Founder and Chief Pack Whisperer

I've always loved being active- training for triathlons, getting outside, and challenging myself. Naturally, I wanted my dog to be a part of it. But... it didn't exactly go as planned.
Between pacing, pulling, and constantly adjusting, it was more frustrating than freeing. I wanted it to feel natural to move together, not work against each other. That's what pulled me into u.Do:.
Pali and I have been closely involved in testing and giving feedback on the products- what works, what doesn't, and what could be better.
Because for me, the gear has to fit seamlessly into my life and my routine... with Pali a part of everything I do (obviously)!
  • Stephanie Woeste, Chief of Pack Engagement

I’m the human behind the howl—leading strategy, storytelling, and brand growth to keep our pack wagging.
Before u.Do:, I worked closely with Jeff and Pat to help dental professionals rethink workflow, safety, and performance through hands-on education and CE seminars.
We’ve brought that experience in design, movement, and problem-solving to create better dog gear—because we love our dogs, and we love building things that actually work.
When I’m not working, I’m with Lakeman, my Goldendoodle co-pilot and constant reminder that the best ideas usually start with a leash in hand.
  • Pali Carter, Chief of Pack Inspiration

I get a lot of attention for being a little quirky—and doing exactly what I want.
Lacey and my veterinarian have me on this “strict diet,” which feels completely unnecessary. I mean… look at me. I look fantastic.
But here’s a little tip for my fellow dogs—as Chief of Pack Inspiration: Give these products a chance.
Put in a solid effort, act just exhausted enough at the end of your outing… and trust me—the extra snacks will follow. Works every time.
  • Lakeman Woeste, Packtivities Director

I bounded into this pack as a pandemic puppy in 2020… and let’s be honest, I’ve had Mom wrapped around my paw ever since.

I’m a Goldendoodle with a calm, confident vibe—always ready to bring a little energy to the moment. Road trip? I’m in. I take my responsibilities very seriously.
I oversee packtivities, which includes comfort control and—most importantly—snack security. Someone has to do it.
I’m happiest spending time with my people—whether we’re out on a walk, testing something new, or just hanging out. Bonus points if there’s a treat involved… purely for quality assurance purposes, of course.
